Continuity of Education Plan
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has extended mandatory school closures in the Commonwealth for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. During this time, the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (WPSD) and The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students (SSDHHC) will be offering distance learning for all students. We ask for and need your patience as we are attempting to implement this approach to schooling without sacrificing the quality education students deserve. This will not be without challenges for the Programs of WPSD as a whole, our teaching staff and for our families. Be assured, however, we will not waver in our ongoing dedication to doing the very best we can for our students. The “Continuity of Education” plans for each department within WPSD can be found below. Each page outlines the education plan for students in the coming weeks. Even though teachers and students are not on campus together, our desire is to continue to engage students with academic content and promote learning throughout the remaining weeks of the school year. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding in these very unique days.
