MEDICAL EMERGENCY 911 PROCEDURES FOR WPSD-ON CAMPUS

Stay with the person at all times, except to call for help. Reach out to other staff for assisting you during the emergency. Please note outside agency persons (such as 1:1 nurses will need assistance with these procedures.)

Call the health center at 888 if inside the campus buildings from a landline phone.

Call the health center # 412-244-4212 or 412-244-4271- if outside of the building (ON CAMPUS).

Please identify your exact location and if possible name of student or staff requiring the medical attention.

If you decide to call 911 prior to the Health Center staff arriving on the scene make sure 911 is aware of your exact location, stay calm and provide as much information as you can to 911.

Notify WPSD security that you have called 911 so they can direct the ambulance to you.

Notify the department director of the situation as soon as possible.

Any parental or (emergency contact) communication regarding the emergency- should initially be made by the Health Center Staff or Department Director.

A staff person should accompany the student to the hospital and remain until parent or replacement is available.

MEDICAL EMERGENCY 911 PROCEDURES- OFF CAMPUS

Call 911, stay calm and provide as much information as you can to 911.

Notify Health Center or Department Director as soon as possible.

Parental or emergency contact calls regarding the emergency –should initially be made by the Health Center or Department Director. However, 911 may direct you to call parent to get information about the student so please provide assistance too the 911 personnel.

Any available staff person should accompany the student to the hospital and remain until parent or replacement is available.
