Deaf Hollywood Actress, Millicent Simmonds, Visits WPSD!

WPSD was thrilled to welcome a movie star to its campus in September! Millicent Simmonds – star of drama film Wonderstruck, horror flick A Quiet Place and its sequel A Quiet Place Part II stopped by the WPSD campus. During her time, Ms. Simmonds visited the school’s video production class, which included one student who is an aspiring actress herself.  The group showed her the inner-workings of its daily newscast and the importance of crew roles – both behind and in front of the camera.

Our littlest learners at the Children’s Center were thrilled to be in the presence of a movie star! Ms. Simmonds took time to meet students during her visit and was a natural with our youngest learners, easily chatting with them and getting to know each one. What an exciting day!  We would like to thank Ms. Simmonds and her family for spending the morning with us a WPSD!
