Honoring a Great Teacher, Mentor, and Deaf Advocate – Dan Emerick.
The WPSD Physical Education and WPSD Counseling departments hosted the eighth annual Dan Emerick Wellness Walk in conjunction with the High School PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) kickoff event. This Wellness Walk honors a great teacher, mentor, and deaf advocate – Dan Emerick. He was always a vital part of PBIS. He always said “keep them moving.” Dan was a Health and Physical Education teacher at WPSD for 34 years. He was a son of two deaf parents, was a gentle giant and always had a positive spin on life. Dan dedicated his time to the deaf senior citizen groups and supported many WPSD fundraising events. He was a fabulous husband to his wife, Nancy and a proud father of his daughter, Shannon. Dan loved WPSD as well as the University of Pittsburgh. The walk is also a way to promote physical well being and health at WPSD. We thank everyone who enjoyed the beautiful weather and walked with us.
