A Place to Learn and Live: The Residence at WPSD
Serving 40% of WPSD’s students, residential life at WPSD offers a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment along with full access to the School’s academic and extra-curricular programs to every deaf and hard-of-hearing student regardless of their home address.
Responding to the needs of these students, WPSD built a new Residence with six living suites, each with bedrooms, bathrooms, a study area, and a kitchen. It offers a large central common area for socialization and group study. With features such as state-of-the-art wireless and information technology networks and a geothermal heating and cooling system, the building operates with increased efficiency and promotes sustainability.
In order to be a standard-bearer for responsible construction in the community, the School is seeking LEED Certification for the building. Discover more about the sustainability and efficiency initiatives within the Residence in this newsletter.
This facility is the newest demonstration of WPSD’s 145-year commitment to serve deaf and hard-of-hearing students throughout the Commonwealth.
