Student Fitness/Wellness Center

The Physical Education and Fitness Center at WPSD has been a resource for student physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness for deaf and hard of hearing students for many years, and with some help from you, our friends, it will hopefully continue for new generations of students.

As currently configured and outfitted, our center is in desperate need of new equipment and a light remodel of the space. It was last updated in the year 2000. There have been a lot of advances in training equipment, techniques, and technology since the fitness center was last updated. Great strides have been made in increasing the accessibility of cardio and strength training equipment in the last quarter century and WPSD needs to upgrade our equipment in order to continue to be at the forefront of education for deaf and hard of hearing children.

Students use the center as a part of the school’s curriculum for fitness and wellness and WPSD’s student-athletes use the facility for strength and agility training throughout the year. The center is designed to be used by all students, no matter their physical abilities, with the vision to invest in the wellness and health of every student on campus.

Won’t you please consider making a donation today? We have numerous sponsorship opportunities ranging from suggested donations to the general budget to sponsoring individual pieces of equipment. There’s also an option for you to make your best personal donation to the project – and ultimately the kids. And just like each and every one of our students, each and every donation is greatly appreciated, and no donor is taken for granted.

Discover more about this important project as Kathy Bartholow, a member of the Physical Education Department, describes the history, purpose and vision of the center.  Thank you in advance for your generous support.
